Benefit Cocktail : An incredibly successful "jazzy" event

An incredibly successful “jazzy” fundraising cocktail

Montréal, June 12, 2015 – Last June 10th, ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity held its annual fundraising cocktail. The Jazzons ensemble event was held under the patronage of Mr. Jean-Guy Desjardins, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Fiera Capital. The event was a resounding success exceeding its financial objective and reaching the sum of $159,375.00 thanks to the sale of more than 300 tickets, sponsorships, donations and the proceeds from the auction. As a result of the funds collected during the evening, the Tolerance Caravan, the interactive workshop of ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity, will be able to visit approximately 12,000 students in their classrooms.

It was also on this occasion that the organization remitted the Paul-Gérin-Lajoie Award of Tolerance. The winner was the world renowned pianist Oliver Jones who follows in the footsteps of romance novelist Kim Thùy who earned the honour in 2013. The Paul Gérin-Lajoie Award of Tolerance is remitted every year to a public figure who promotes tolerance, bridges the gap, fosters humanistic values and fights discrimination.  Previous award winners include Kim Thùy, as mentioned above, Dany Turcotte, Maxime Collard and his mother, Dr. Julien as well as Father Emmett “Pops” Johns.

In addition to receiving the award and delivering an inspiring message, Oliver Jones, accompanied by his contrabassist, Éric Lagacé, entertained the attendees with a piano performance. Attendees were also able to chat with Alexandre Bilodeau, two-time Olympic champion, and KPMG ambassador who was also present for the evening.

The organization wishes to thank Mr. Jean-Guy Desjardins, patron of the evening and Chairman of Fiera Capital, the principal sponsor of the event, as well as all his other sponsors, donors and participants. Thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the evening, the organization will continue its important mission to interact with young people to promote respect for differences and engage in dialogue to build an environment free of discrimination and bullying.
